The Cadet and Junior Canadian Ranger (JCR) youth programs are more than just an opportunity-they are a transformative experience that empowers young Canadians to build character, resilience, and teamwork, and coaches them to lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and grow with honour. Cadets and JCRs engage in varied and unique experiences, while gaining skills and knowledge that will serve them all their lives. There are over 1,100 cadet corps and squadrons and JCR patrols that can be found in more than 800 communities serving every province and territory.
Officers, non-commissioned members, and volunteers of the Cadet Organizations Administration and Training Service (COATS) ensure safety, supervision, administration and training of both Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers. Trained and experienced adults are instrumental in delivering the programs year-round. We thank all these dedicated adult staff members for their service to the youth of Canada.
Many Air, Army and Sea Cadets from across Canada will be attending a training opportunity at 13 Cadet Training Centres and one Technology and Digital Learning Centre operating this summer. In addition, JCRs will attend Enhanced Training Sessions in select locations this summer. These youth have chosen to challenge themselves by learning new skills from sailing to mountain biking, drones and first aid to cyber security, and even becoming a pilot.
