Who is the main propane provider for the CANEX Home Heating Program?
Avenir Energy is the official propane provider for the CANEX Home Heating Program. As a proudly Canadian-operated company, Avenir delivers safe, reliable propane service coast-to-coast, with a strong focus on customer care and community support.
What is the CANEX Home Heating Program discount?
Eligible customers receive an 8¢ per litre discount off the regular delivered price of propane. This exclusive offer is available to Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, civilian DND or NPF employees, and RCMP members with a valid CFOne card.
In addition, Avenir Energy offers up to $350 in discounts on propane furnaces, boilers, and water heaters through the CANEX Home Heating Program. *

Why are rebate cheques no longer mailed each July?
To simplify the process and provide immediate savings, the rebate has been replaced with an instant discount at the time of delivery. This means no more waiting for a cheque—your savings are applied directly to your propane bill.
I previously received a CANEX propane discount through another provider. Do I need to reapply with Avenir Energy?
No reapplication is necessary. If you received the CANEX discount through Ultramar, Island Petroleum, Sparlings, Bluewave Energy, or Columbia Fuels, your discount will continue seamlessly with Avenir Energy.
Can I switch to Avenir Energy if they service my area?
Absolutely! You can apply for the discount through the CANEX Home Heating Program website. Once your application is submitted, we will confirm if service is available in your area and an Avenir representative will guide you through the setup process.
How do I know if my area is covered by the CANEX Home Heating Program?
Submit an application online, and a representative will contact you to confirm service availability in your region.
How long does it take to hear back after applying??
You can typically expect a response within two weeks of submitting your application.
How are propane refills scheduled?
Avenir Energy offers multiple delivery options:
Tank Monitoring Delivery: Avenir uses wireless tank monitors to track your tank levels and help schedule your next propane tank refill. Tank monitors allow us to track your real time tank levels and plan your next propane refill with greater accuracy. You can also track your real time tank levels too, through their My Account portal or by downloading the Nee-Vo Otodata App on your smartphone.
Automatic Delivery: With convenient automatic propane delivery, Avenir will manage your propane refills by factoring in your usage, your appliances and weather forecasts. Automatic deliveries can also be scheduled for a fixed time span.
By Request: You can manually request a refill when your tank reaches around 20%.
Note: Credit approval is required for all delivery options.
Is emergency propane delivery available during winter or outages?
Yes. Avenir Energy provides 24/7 emergency service to ensure you’re never left without heat when you need it most. They offer full-service HVAC support in most regions, from appliance installation to emergency service, customers only need to make one call.
Do they install propane tanks for new customers?
Yes. Avenir installs propane tanks tailored to your needs, considering appliance BTU load, usage, property layout, and local regulations. Installation is handled by certified technicians following all safety codes.

How do I know if my area is covered by the CANEX Home Heating Program?
Submit an application online, and a representative will contact you to confirm service availability in your region. Oil customers can generally be assured we have coverage across Canada.
How often can I expect fuel deliveries? Is there a specific schedule or can I request deliveries as needed?
You can choose to place your fuel deliveries as you need to; or you can choose Automatic delivery. Automatic delivery customers have their tanks monitored by [fuel brand] and receive deliveries when you need them. Delivery schedules are based on current weather conditions and past usage.

How long does it take to hear back after applying?
You can typically expect a response within two weeks of submitting your application.
Do they offer emergency fuel deliveries in case I run out unexpectedly during colder months?
Yes. Emergency services are available to all customers.
Do they provide tank installations for new customers?
Most oil customers already have an oil tank in place. Your oil tank needs to be inspected before you can receive a delivery. Our oil providers also sell oil tanks in select regions if you need to replace yours.
